If you’re comparing loose stones, the most useful number isn’t the total price. It’s the price per carat. The lab grown diamond price per carat in Dubai has fallen sharply in recent years, but it hasn’t fallen evenly. Some sizes have held steady while others keep getting cheaper. Knowing which is which can save you thousands of dirhams on the same-looking diamond.
This guide explains where per-carat prices stand in 2026, what our own Dubai inventory shows about quality, the real benefits and limits of lab-grown diamonds, and how to choose the right stone for your budget.
What Is the Lab Grown Diamond Price Per Carat in Dubai Today?
Price per carat is simply the stone’s price divided by its weight. Dealers use it because it lets you compare a 1.2-carat stone with a 1.5-carat stone fairly.
The most widely cited price tracker, analyst Edahn Golan’s Lab-Grown Diamond Wholesale Price Index, shows how far prices have fallen:
- Down 96% since July 2018. That’s the drop in lab-grown wholesale prices from when the index began to the second quarter of 2026, reported by Golan in July 2026.
- Down 13% year on year in Q2 2026. Prices are still falling, but more slowly than in 2024 and 2025.
- Mid-2025 benchmark. Golan’s statistics put typical high-quality lab-grown stones at around US$800–900 per carat, roughly AED 2,940–3,300. Lower grades were nearer US$200–250 per carat, roughly AED 735–920. Prices have fallen further since.
Dubai prices follow these global trends, because the city is one of the world’s biggest lab-grown trading hubs. The UAE traded 76.9 million carats of lab-grown diamonds in 2025, according to DMCC. Individual quotes still depend on shape, size, cut quality and certificate, so treat these figures as benchmarks rather than a price list.
Why Price Per Carat Changes With Size
Price per carat isn’t flat. It usually rises as stones get bigger, because larger rough crystals are harder to grow without flaws. Two patterns matter for buyers in 2026.
1. Bigger stones are getting cheaper fastest. In the second quarter of 2026, wholesale prices for 1-carat rounds actually rose 1% year on year. Prices for 1.50–1.99-carat stones fell 11%, and 2-carat stones fell 20%. Golan explains that larger stones had carried the biggest margins, so they had the most room to fall. If you’ve been hoping for a 2-carat stone, 2026 prices favour you.
2. Weight thresholds still matter. Prices per carat step up at popular weights such as 1.00, 1.50 and 2.00 carats. A 1.90-carat stone looks almost the same as a 2.00-carat stone but often costs less per carat.
Lab Grown Diamond Price by Carat Size at a Glance

| 1.00–1.49 ct | 6.5–7.3 mm | Steps up at 1.00 ct | +1% (1 ct rounds, Q2) |
| 1.50–1.99 ct | 7.4–8.0 mm | Higher | −11% (Q2) |
| 2.00–2.99 ct | 8.1–9.2 mm | Higher again | −20% (2 ct, Q2) |

Wholesale trends are from Edahn Golan’s 2026 Lab-Grown Wholesale Price Lists (“—” means no published figure for that size). Sizes are for well-cut round brilliants. Our certified inventory covers every size band above; to see what’s in stock today, browse our loose diamonds by carat.
The pattern is clear: the lab grown diamond price per carat rises with size, but the sizes that cost most per carat are also the ones falling fastest in 2026.
1-Carat vs 2-Carat vs 3-Carat: Lab Grown Diamonds Price in Dubai Compared
Most buyers narrow their choice to one of three sizes. Here’s how they compare:
| 1 carat | 2 carats | 3 carats | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Round size (approx.) | 6.5 mm | 8.1 mm | 9.3 mm |
| Cheaper than natural (2025) | About 82% | About 89% | Gap wider still |
| 2026 wholesale trend | +1% (holding steady) | −20% (falling fast) | −28% (falling fastest) |
| Best for | Classic everyday elegance | A bold look that’s still wearable | Statement pieces |
Natural-price comparison from Edahn Golan’s 2025 data. Golan publishes no specific figure for 3 carats, but the gap widens with size.
The 2 carat lab grown diamond is the sweet spot in 2026. It’s 89% cheaper than natural at this size, its wholesale price fell 20% year on year in Q2 2026, and it looks noticeably bigger than a 1-carat stone while staying practical for daily wear. What a Dubai Inventory Tells You About Quality
To see what buyers are actually choosing between, we took a snapshot of the certified lab-grown diamonds in the Daval Jewels loose-diamond inventory in September 2026, covering over 300 stones. Our stock changes every week as stones sell and new ones arrive, so the exact numbers move, but the overall quality pattern is what matters:
| What we measured | Result (September 2026 snapshot) |
|---|---|
| Colour D, E or F (colourless) | Almost all stones (about 99%) |
| Clarity VS2 or better | Almost all stones (over 99%) |
| Typical (median) weight | Around 2 carats |
| Stones of 2 carats or more | About half |
| Most common shapes | Round, followed by pear, oval, marquise and emerald |
What this means for you: In certified lab-grown diamonds, top colour and clarity are the norm, not a luxury. Nearly every stone in our inventory is colourless with VS clarity or better. So paying extra for a D colour over an E, or VVS1 clarity over VVS2, rarely buys a difference you can see.
This is also why GIA moved away from traditional 4Cs grades for lab-grown diamonds in October 2025, in favour of a simpler Premium or Standard rating. Your money is better spent on cut quality, good proportions and carat weight.
Benefits of Buying Lab Grown Diamonds
You get more diamond for your budget. According to Edahn Golan’s figures for 2025, a 1-carat lab-grown diamond cost about 82% less than a typical natural diamond, and a 2-carat stone about 89% less. In practice, the budget for a small natural stone can buy a much larger lab-grown one.
It’s a real diamond. Lab-grown diamonds have the same chemistry, hardness and sparkle as mined diamonds. The only difference is origin, which is recorded on the grading report and laser-inscribed on the stone.
Top quality is affordable. As our inventory shows, colourless, high-clarity stones are standard, so you don’t have to trade quality for size.
The origin is transparent. Lab-grown stones are disclosed as such, and their production chain is simpler to document than a mined stone’s.
The honest limitation is resale value. Because prices keep falling, a lab-grown diamond is worth far less on the resale market than you paid. Buy one to wear and enjoy, not as an investment.
How to Choose the Right Lab Grown Diamond
Use price per carat to compare, and these steps to choose.
1. Set a Total Budget, Then Choose the Size
Decide the total you want to spend first, including the setting. Then see which size step that budget reaches, and consider buying just under a popular weight such as 1.90 carats instead of 2.00.
2. Don’t Overpay for Grades You Can’t See
Because D–F colour and VS clarity are standard in lab-grown stones, choose within that range for value. An E VS1 will look the same as a D VVS1 once it’s set.
3. Prioritise Cut and Proportions
Cut decides sparkle. For rounds, look for an Excellent cut grade. IGI also grades cut on fancy shapes such as oval, pear and marquise, and those stones need well-balanced proportions to avoid dark areas.
4. Read the Certificate Carefully
IGI reports grade lab-grown stones on the full 4Cs. GIA reports now rate them Premium or Standard. Enter the report number on the lab’s website and match it to the laser inscription on the stone.
5. Compare Like for Like
Compare price per carat only between stones of the same shape, a similar size, and similar cut and certificate. A cheaper price per carat usually means a trade-off somewhere, so find out where.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the lab grown diamond price per carat in Dubai?
It depends on size, shape, cut and certificate. As a benchmark, Edahn Golan's mid-2025 data put high-quality lab-grown stones at around US$800–900 per carat, roughly AED 2,940–3,300, and prices have fallen further since. Ask for a quote on specific certified stones for current prices.
Why is a 2-carat lab diamond more expensive per carat than a 1-carat?
Larger crystals are harder to grow without flaws, so price per carat rises with size. That gap is narrowing, though. 2-carat wholesale prices fell 20% year on year in Q2 2026, while 1-carat rounds rose 1%.
Are lab-grown diamonds cheaper in Dubai?
Dubai is one of the world's largest lab-grown trading hubs, so there's wide supply and strong competition. Prices still vary by seller, so compare price per carat on stones with the same shape, size, cut and certificate.
Do I need D colour and VVS clarity for a lab-grown diamond?
Usually not. Colourless, high-clarity stones are standard in lab-grown diamonds. When we reviewed our own inventory in September 2026, almost every stone was D–F colour. Choosing E or F with VS clarity gives the same look for less.
