One carat is the size most people picture when they imagine an engagement ring. It’s also where prices vary the most. The 1 carat diamond ring price in UAE shops can differ by more than AED 10,000 between two rings that look almost identical, depending mainly on whether the stone is natural or lab-grown.
This guide breaks down what a 1-carat diamond costs in 2026, what the setting adds, and how to get the best 1-carat ring for your budget in Dubai.
How Much Does a 1 Carat Diamond Ring Cost in the UAE?
No official UAE price index exists, so the most reliable approach is to build the price from its two parts: the diamond and the setting. Here’s what current data shows for each.
The Diamond: Lab-Grown vs Natural
Lab-grown. Diamond analyst Edahn Golan’s mid-2025 figures put high-quality lab-grown diamonds at around US$800–900 per carat. For a 1-carat stone, that’s roughly AED 2,940–3,300. Prices have since slipped further across the market, although 1-carat rounds held steady. They rose 1% year on year at wholesale in the second quarter of 2026, while larger stones kept falling.
Natural. Golan’s data also shows a 1-carat lab-grown diamond costing about 82% less than a typical natural diamond. That puts a comparable natural 1-carat stone at roughly AED 16,000–18,000. Natural prices softened too. Rapaport’s index for 1-carat diamonds fell 9.9% in 2025 and was flat or negative for 15 months, before posting a 0.5% rise in August 2026.
The Setting: What the Gold Adds
A 1-carat solitaire is usually set in 18K gold. In late September 2026, 18K gold in Dubai traded at roughly AED 380–390 per gram. A classic solitaire band uses around 3–5 grams, so the gold alone adds about AED 1,150–1,950 before making charges. Halo, pavé and three-stone designs add more gold, side diamonds and labour.
Putting It Together: An Illustrative 1-Carat Budget
| 1-carat solitaire in 18K gold | Diamond | Setting (gold + making) | Indicative total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lab-grown, high colour and clarity | ~AED 2,900–3,300 | ~AED 1,500–2,500 | ~AED 4,400–5,800 |
| Natural, comparable grades | ~AED 16,000–18,000 | ~AED 1,500–2,500 | ~AED 17,500–20,500 |
These are worked estimates built from the sources above, not quotes. Actual prices depend on shape, cut, grades, certificate, design and the day’s gold rate. Add 5% VAT if it isn’t already included.
The takeaway is simple. When you compare the 1 carat diamond ring price in UAE stores, origin matters more than anything else. For the same visible size and sparkle, a lab-grown 1-carat ring typically costs a fraction of a natural one.
What Changes the Price of a 1 Carat Diamond?
Two 1-carat diamonds can differ in price by thousands of dirhams even when both are lab-grown or both are natural. These factors explain most of the gap.
Cut Quality
- Cut decides how much a diamond sparkles, and it’s the grade you’ll notice most. An excellent-cut 1-carat stone can look brighter, and even larger, than a poorly cut 1.10-carat stone. Don’t trade cut quality for a higher colour or clarity grade.
Colour and Clarity
- In natural diamonds, each step up in colour (G to F to E to D) and clarity (VS to VVS to IF) adds a noticeable premium. In lab-grown diamonds, top grades are standard. That changes where your money should go.
Shape
- Round brilliants usually cost the most per carat, because cutting them loses more of the rough crystal. Ovals, pears and marquises often cost less and look larger face-up for the same weight.
Certificate
- An IGI or GIA report adds trust and resale clarity. For lab-grown stones, IGI grades the full 4Cs, while GIA now issues a Premium or Standard rating.
What Our 1-Carat Inventory Shows
To see what’s actually on offer at this size, we looked at the certified lab-grown diamonds in the Daval Jewels loose-diamond inventory in September 2026. Two patterns stood out.
1. Almost everything sits just over 1.00 carat. We had 74 stones between 1.00 and 1.09 carats, but only one between 0.90 and 0.99 carats. Cutters aim to keep stones at or above the 1.00-carat mark, because buyers search for “1 carat” and the price per carat steps up there.
2. Top grades are the norm. Among our 85 stones between 1.00 and 1.49 carats, every one is D, E or F colour. Almost all (77) are VVS2 clarity. Round is the most common shape (38 stones), followed by pear (13), marquise (10) and oval (8).
What this means for your budget: With lab-grown 1-carat stones, you don’t need to pay extra to reach colourless and high clarity, because that’s standard. Focus instead on cut quality, shape and how the stone looks on the hand. If a jeweller does offer a stone just under 1.00 carat, such as 0.95, it can look almost identical and cost less. Just know these stones are relatively scarce.
How to Get the Best 1 Carat Diamond Ring in Dubai
- Decide natural or lab-grown first. It’s the biggest price decision, and it changes which grades are worth paying for.
- Prioritise an excellent cut. It gives the most visible return on your money.
- Consider a fancy shape. An oval or pear can look bigger than a round of the same weight and often costs less.
- Compare certificates, not claims. Check the IGI or GIA report number online and match it to the laser inscription.
- Ask for an itemised quote. It should separate the diamond, gold weight, making charge and VAT.
- Check the gold hallmark. 18K gold should be stamped 750 by the Dubai Central Laboratory.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 1 carat diamond ring price in UAE?
It depends mainly on the diamond's origin. Based on 2025–2026 market data, a lab-grown 1-carat solitaire in 18K gold works out at roughly AED 4,400–5,800, and a comparable natural ring at roughly AED 17,500–20,500. Treat these as estimates, not quotes.
Why is a natural 1-carat diamond so much more expensive than lab-grown?
Natural diamonds are mined and rare, while lab-grown diamonds are produced to order and their prices have fallen steeply since 2018. According to Edahn Golan's data, a 1-carat lab-grown diamond costs about 82% less than a typical natural one.
Is a 1-carat lab-grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. It has the same chemistry, hardness and sparkle as a mined diamond. The difference is its origin, which is recorded on the grading report and laser-inscribed on the stone.
How much does the setting add to a 1-carat ring?
A simple 18K gold solitaire band uses about 3–5 grams of gold. At late-September 2026 Dubai rates, that's roughly AED 1,150–1,950 before making charges. Halo and pavé designs cost more.
Will 1-carat diamond prices go down further?
1-carat lab-grown rounds have stabilised, rising 1% at wholesale in Q2 2026. Natural 1-carat prices rose 0.5% in August 2026, their first increase in 15 months. Larger lab-grown stones are still falling faster.
